Q. What is a NEIP?
A. The NEIP is the acronym for Neighborhood Environmental Improvement Plan NEIPS are part of the business plan of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA).
Q. What is the Anglesea NEIP?
A. The Anglesea Neighbourhood Environment Improvement Plan (NEIP) is a pilot project specific to the township of Anglesea, under the umbrella of the EPA’s Statewide Neighbourhood Environmental Improvement Plan program.
Q. What is the vision of the Anglesea NEIP?
A. The Vision of the Anglesea NIEP is for the community to be proud of its ability to protect and enhance its natural environment, reduce its ecological footprint and share experience with others.
Q. What is the aim of the Anglesea NIEP?
A. The Anglesea NEIP aims to guide, support and assist activities in the Anglesea area, to build the capacity of the local community to live more sustainably and protect the special, natural environment of Anglesea.
Q. How will the NEIP attempt to achieve the aim?
A. The Anglesea NEIP will attempt to achieve the aim by meeting the following objectives:
- Protecting Anglesea’s natural ecological values
- Building community capacity to live more sustainably
- Developing strategies and tools to reduce Anglesea’s ecological footprint
- Developing a model program and sharing the learning from the pilot with others
Q. What is so special about the Anglesea NEIP?
A. The Anglesea NEIP provides a forum for the community, industry and government to meet regularly and collectively create and work together on agreed environmental projects. It also provides an opportunity for government agencies to test and implement their environmental programs in a receptive community and gain feedback.
Q. What does the NEIP do?
A. The NEIP group:
- Meets regularly to share information with the project partners;
- Provides a support networks for project partners and the local community to complete projects that meet the aims of the NEIP;
- Develop new environmental initiatives/projects;
- Welcome new ideas/initiatives/members;
- Advocate for other environmental groups/projects/initiatives;
- Seek funding to complete environmental projects;
- Report on projects; and
- Celebrate success.
Q. What are the NEIP projects?
A. The current major NEIP project is the Plastic Bag Free Anglesea campaign.
- The NEIP projects vary and develop over time.
- Each can be driven by any member of the group.
- The projects require support from the group and must aim to meet at least one of the objectives listed above.
- New projects for 2006 will be discussed at the December meeting.
Q. Who are NEIP Members
A. Members of the Anglesea NEIP include voluntary members of the local community, representatives from local community groups, government agency staff, local Councillors local, businesses owners and industry staff.
